Natalie Savage

Natalie Savage is a still life painter from London, she studied Fine Art at Bristol.
What inspires your work as an artist? Food, flowers, travel, colour, clothes… all the good things! I love interiors, hosting people round for dinners, strolling through markets and eventually all these elements find their way onto the canvas somehow.
Who are your biggest influences? I love and always look to Mary Fedden. She’s just so brilliant with her colour, perspectives and negative space. Other current artists I adore and am influenced by are Emma Gale, Emily Powell, Danny Fox, Ana Leovy… amongst many others.
What does your work mean to you? They’re just meant to be fun, not to be taken too seriously. I love colour and boldness and playing around with it all and hopefully create some fun pieces in the process.
What techniques do you use I use acrylic paint. I love the immediacy of it and don’t seem to have much patience for long drying times and all the other slower processes you encounter with other paints. Some days I’ll know exactly what the finished piece will look like before I’ve started and other days I figure it out as I go along, just depends on the day!
